The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery recently awarded over $300,000 in grants to children’s charities across the River Region. These grants are a direct result of the Alabama National Fair, the Pete Peterson Trust, and the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery Foundation. This year, 17 nonprofit charities will benefit from the grants.

The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery is the fourth largest Kiwanis Club in the world, and the Alabama National Fair is the organization’s annual fundraiser.

Randy Stephenson, Executive Director of the Alabama National Fair, stated, “We’ve got community partners that help us with this. So, we’ve been able to grow what we do and be able to provide more, which brings in more. A lot has to do with our community partners that come get involved with us and help us sponsor this thing.”

Jim Byram, President of the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery, explained, “That’s our goal here, is to give back to the community. This is a great organization. We have great programs. We learn a lot about our community and the state and the country and all sorts of things, but the reason we do it is to raise funds to give back to the children. For Kiwanis International and our local Kiwanis Club, children are the focus of all our benevolent activities.”
