In March 2019, AGAPE received a $20,000 grant from the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery at the Alabama National Fair. Based out of Montgomery, Alabama, AGAPE is an organization dedicated to helping children in need in Central Alabama. They have dedicated this grant to working to train foster families through ten, 3-hour long classes or one on one classes, in addition to home visits and continuing education to ensure a healthy, safe and happy environment for foster children. After receiving the grant this year, 7 families were approved and 10 children were placed with these new families.
“The impact is incredible”, says Steve Duer, Executive Director of AGAPE. “The children placed this year have ranged in age from newborn to 14 years old. We are blown away by the generosity the Kiwanis Club shows for the children of the River Region and their commitment to them.”
