The Boys and Girls Club of the River Region is an organization founded by the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery in 1940. Their three locations serve a large group of children in the Montgomery area. The Boys and Girls Club is dedicated to providing a safe and positive environment for the children of the River Region. In March 2019, the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery awarded them with a grant for $20,000 to help fund a program called Project Learn. Project Learn is a successful educational program, focusing on homework help and computer education. By developing reading, writing, arithmetic, and conversational skills, Project Learn helps students in the Montgomery area succeed in school and have support throughout their educational careers. “The Kiwanis Foundation is almost like family.”, says Rick Jackson, Chief Professional Officer of the Boys and Girls Club of the River Region. “Family takes care of its own and we are so appreciative of this donation and all it has done.”
